Happy Holiday of your Choice!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a quiet calm and festive holiday season! We are in that time of year when it's easy to get caught up in all the craziness and forget to take a little time to yourself to spend quality cat-time with the furry family members. They have a calming effect on us and even provide medical benefits like lowering blood pressure (helpful before or after visiting the out of town family members at times). Try not to let them eat the plants or drink tree water to avoid basic problems like GI upset, or serious issues like poisoning from mistletoe or lilies. Remember that all the lights and candles can provide stimulation and lead to injury or damage to the home, so keep the shiny stuff out of reach.

This is also the time of year we take time away from work to spend it with family and friends, and that means even vet clinics can be closed for a few day. We will not be available on Wednesday or Thursday, Dec 24-25, but will open for Friday and Saturday on our regular schedule. We will also be closed on New Years Day, Jan 1, 2015, next Thursday. We have addresses and contact information for several emergency and specialty clinics that are open 24 hours and the after hours emergency clinic that is nearby listed on the website. If there is an emergency and we are closed, it's best to call one of the listed practices. Midwest is usually available for emergencies on the holiday, but we are not sure if they will be open for cats on Wednesday before 7 pm, so it's best to call if that is where you plan to go.

So that's the latest installment of "the blog." Fascinating, I know. May you all have time to rest and reflect on the year past and the future, enjoy your family, human and animal, and remember with love those who have passed from this world, but not from our hearts and memories. Pax vobiscum.
