ULTRASOUND

Used commonly in human medicine for many years, ultrasound is now a routine part of our practice as well. The information it can provide is invaluable as well as being non-invasive and safe for even the oldest of cats.

Cardiac Ultrasound

Heart disease in the cat requires ultrasound to properly assess all facets of heart function. We utilize the services of Dr Dana Buscio who is board certified in veterinary cardiology. She has been our cardiologist for over 15 years.

Once thought to be uncommon years ago, we now know that feline heart disease is actually not at all unusual. Ultrasound has played an invaluable role in bringing about this understanding and has helped many, many cats live longer who would otherwise have succumbed to heart failure for lack of a diagnosis and proper treatment.

Abdominal Ultrasound

Abdominal ultrasound is used among things, for detecting tumors, bladder and kidney stones not visible on x-rays, evaluating the liver, spleen, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract as well as pancreatic and adrenal gland abnormalities.

Dr Kristen Pampel provides this service. She has several years experience with this technology and was formerly the abdominal ultrasonographer for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University.
